Circumstances:
The last time my mother, Shirley, contacted anyone was around 1970 or 1971. She phoned her mother in Seattle to tell her she thought she had cirrhosis of the liver and needed money. Shirley was an alcoholic. We don’t know where she was, but could have been CA, because she lived there for years. She was married to a Clarence Stevens there. Before Stevens, she was married to Robert W Hansen, my father. They had five children.
After Stevens, she might have been married to another man. It's never been verified, but supposedly they got married in Seattle. That would have been in late 1960's. Our daughter has been searching for her grandmother, on and off over the years, too, and not long ago she gave a sample of her saliva for a DNA database, in case there is a match some day. Her name is Sarah Loveless.
She created a blog regarding her missing grandmother, with photos and a lot more, and some of the same info I wrote here. It might be of use, because it generated comments from extended family who also had information.
