Circumstances: The children returned from school to find nobody at home. The gun cabinet was unlocked, but no guns were missing. A lock box was found open with the contents pulled out and sitting on a dresser. It is not known if anything was removed. Tarps that covered John's Corvette were missing. He never left the car exposed. John's pickup truck was missing, but later found locked and abandoned 10 miles from home. Inside the cab was the couple's cellular phone. Checking account revealed a check transaction of $1,000, made out to cash, the day of their disappearance. The drive-through bank teller remembers John driving the truck, Shelly writing the check on the dashboard and a man with them in the truck.
