Circumstances: On 9/6 Joey ran out of gas at around Mile Post 10 in the middle of road according to the owners of the local Mercantile that he went to to get gas. He only had $2 so they gave him a gas can and the gas. Joey appeared to be disoriented and confused. He kept walking up hill instead of down towards where his car was in the middle of the 2 lane road. An hour later Joey came back with $10 and said he ran out of gas again. Again the Mercantile gave him gas. According to the Mercantile, he came back a 3rd time in a time span of a couple of hours and asked for more gas. This time saying he didn't have $$$. The Mercantile said No that they were closing and that they have already given him $12 in gas. That was approx. 3-4 gallons of gas. So Joey left. At around 12:30am-1am he went to 3 houses at Milepost 17 up the road and was begging for help. He said he ran out of gas and his car was dead. A neighbor called a tow truck company who came out to help Joey. Joey tried to pay with his Midas Tire card and the Tow Company said he couldn't take that as payment. Joey admitted he lost his wallet, then said well he lost his debit card and was waiting for a new one. (the card was confirmed lost because he got a new one mailed last week to his apartment) So at this point Joey had zero $$, no gas, and his car battery died. The tow company offered to tow his car and hold it till the next day (for free)so Joey could call family to get the $$. Joey said No and asked to have his car released from the back of the tow truck. Sunday 9/7 @11:45am is when Skamania County Police showed up to help him. They jumped his car and gave him 5 gallons of gas and advised him how to get back to Hwy 14 to get home to Portland. Joey admitted that he was lost and just wanted to get home. Joey is mentally delayed and has extreme schizophrenia. He hasn't had his meds to date in 19 days! On those days he was already showing signs of not having his meds and his mental state. The Mercantile confirmed they could see it, the tow truck company confirmed he could see Joey was confused and disorientated. But the police said he was fine. They said if he showed any signs they would have held him. That is not true. So Police made sure Joey turned his car around in the right direction and watched him drive off. If Joey would have made it to Hwy 14 and turned right as instructed, he would have made it home. He did not. And there has been ZERO signs of him since. It is like he vanished into Thin air. Joey has never run away from home. He is very dependent on his girlfriend of 13 years who is also developmentally delayed. He would never leave home without money. And he has nothing. He is on SSI and depends on his weekly allowance that is mailed to him, and he hasn't been home to get those checks. 9/7/14 is the last he was seen and no leads to date.

He just purchased this car on Wednesday 9/4. It only had a trip permit on the back window and Portland Nissan signs in the license plate holders. If car was stolen those will most likely be removed at this point, But we have no idea.
